High-energy messengers from Seyfert-starburst composite galaxies

Eichmann, Tjus, Salvatore
Ruhr University Bochum

Seyfert-starburst composite galaxies are of special interest, as both phenomena on their own are potential sources of highly-energetic cosmic rays and associated gamma-ray and neutrino emission. In this talk a comprehensive multi-messenger study of NGC 1068, the prototype Seyfert II galaxy recently associated with high-energy IceCube neutrinos is presented. Various aspects of the source, including its nuclear activity, jet, outflow, and starburst region, are analyzed in detail using a multi-wavelength approach. Finally, the important characteristics and prospect of further promising high-energy Seyfert-starburst composite galaxy emitters is given.
